I seriously doubt that running your boat through a raft of pumice would do anything more than dull the gelcoat finish. It's extremely lightweight, not much heavier than a similar size piece of Styrofoam, but it is high abrasive.

Ouch.

Recently I was kayaking on river area I plan to sail someday and saw this huge rock projecting up to 3-in below the boat. Definitely going to stay clear of that area with sailboat. Would wreck your day.

Might be a cheap way to sand you hull down before you haul-out to bottom paint. Just sail into the pumice for a while.
