Re: Chartering out my boat

He11, I'd be inclined to charter your 28' S2 if I were to be heading to the Bahamas. Not likely in the near future so perhaps some of what the PParrot is saying may be true. What market is there for such an idea?
If you were to do it you would likely want to form some kind of limited partnership (even if it is just you) to shield you from some of the liability.
I'm not an international law expert so do not take my word for it.

Call a maritime Lawyer......leasing is a much easier thing than chartering....Who would clean it between weeks.....inspect.....replace etc etc etc....Class1 Epirb? Lots of issues here.

Lots of 28 footers around for 10-15k why would someone lease yours? Drug runs?

Doesn't sound viable

Chartering out my boat

Having my 28' S2 sitting in Marsh HArbor, Bahamas not being used seems like a waste. She is very old and long ago paid for but is in good shape albeit my accomodations are truly spartan. Now, she is even Bahamas registered.
So, has anybody else considered renting out their boat or "time sharing" it in such a situation?
Although I love my boat, if anything happened to her, it would not be a financial hardship cuz I need a good excuse to build a big boat.
Other than good liability insurance, what sort of issues should one consider in doing this? Is it a good idea to incorporate?
