Re: 2012 Fall Annapolis Boat Show

I'm getting offers of docks and shuttles, so between that and the water taxi, I suspect I'll be ok.

Part of this depends on friends who are attending, and what they want to do, unfortunately.

I didn't find it that bad. We took our boat last year. Maybe it wasn't so bad because we were on Back Creek, close yet away from the madness of the sea trials going in and out of the show.

WingNWing answered the question before my buddy got back to me, but he confirms there is a landing for your dink if you choose Weems creek.

If you can go up a day or so, early he advises you can usually get a public mooring on Spa Creek.

Re: 2012 Fall Annapolis Boat Show

BTW, I wouldn't raft to someone else's dink. Even if they're not a jerk like the guy you dealt with last time, you just don't know how well they tied their own boat on. Get a longer painter, or locking cable if you so choose, and tie yourself directly to the dinghy dock. If you end up on Back Creek, the end of every street in Annapolis that ends at the water is public access. Just tie to the end of the street on the Eastport side of Back Creek and walk a few blocks to the show; no need to dinghy around the corner and fight the intense crowds at the dock next to the show. Or do as Nick suggested, save yourself the hassle for $3-4 and take the water taxi.

Re: 2012 Fall Annapolis Boat Show

Weems creek has a dinghy landing aka boat launch. (concrete ramp) Easy. The more sheltered waters near the head of the creek tend to be pretty congested. You can anchor further out but expect lots of boat wakes during the day (wakes die down at night). From there you can walk just a few blocks to get the bus. Also a supermarket & fun Mexican restaurant within easy walking distance.

Re: 2012 Fall Annapolis Boat Show

If you do anchor in Back Creek the water taxi will come right to your boat. I think it even goes out to Weems Creek during the show. No need to tie up the dink. I've also seen several boats anchored out near Horn Point. Not my first choice but that is also in the service area of the water taxi.
