Re: Pearson 31-2 worthwhile upgrades

I like the idea of the folding wheel in our P31-2 but it's not in the budget right now. However, I am interested in how you installed the perch seats. Can you post a picture?

I have a Pearson as well, did you wire the led lights directly to the battery?

Pearson 31-2 worthwhile upgrades

Just thought I would mention a few things worth doing on the aforementioned sailboat. WIll try to get some photos posted should anyone want to see them.

bought these interior lights: Hitlights 300 LEDs Waterproof Red Flexible Ribbon LED Strip, 16.4 Ft or 5 Meters, 3528SMD Type, 12 Volt, 24 Watt: Home Improvement Hitlights 300 LEDs Waterproof Red Flexible Ribbon LED Strip, 16.4 Ft or 5 Meters, 3528SMD Type, 12 Volt, 24 Watt: Home Improvement

installed a toggle switch by the entry of the cabin to turn on the red strip lights we installed along the underside of the storage bins above the couches and above the kitchen and nav station. I have them wired directly to the battery as they draw so little energy. Makes it nice to enter the boat at night without having to climb in and fumble for the battery switch. Also provides great light and the red allows one not to lose their night vision!

Bought the parts to accomplish this:
Gemini Marine Products & Custom Canvas
and we finally removed the annoying forward straps that hold our bimini in place. Got tired of climbing over them to get on and off the boat or to go forward on deck. Big improvement!

Added a shower to the cockpit to rinse off kids. tied in by the water heater

Put in a folding wheel to make it easier to get around in the cockpit. Love this thing!

Replaced the Schaffer blocks with Harken on the boom and this made an incredible difference to managing the mainsheet.

Added stern perch seating. Now these are the favorite seats on the boat! Great for entertaining.

I will post more as I get to it. Now want to refinish the nav station top but not sure if the patina in the existing wood will look different to the newly refinished Nav station top. going to try a test area.
