Hello everyone!

I have sailed for many years, off and on, but always smaller laser and Hobie cat type boats. I am REALLY thinking about buying a 28 - 34 foot cruiser/Racer... but to tell you the Truth, i am a bit on the Anxious side. I am hoping that I will get a realistic idea of what the monthly or annual costs are to keep a boat like this well maintained, insured, moored, fueled, etc. I really don't want to buy a boat and be surprised by any of the hidden costs for things you don't think about all the time.

I would consider myself to be an intermediate sailor, but I am always looking to learn more. If you need a crew member, let me know!

Any advice you can give a newbie like me would be GREATLY appreciated!

Hi from La Conner,

Moorage, around $200 to $300/mo
Insurance goes by value of boat. It might be $300 to $500/yr.
Haul out every other year for bottom pain, around $500/ haul out and paint.
If you're making payments, the bank is going to want a survey every three to five years. That's another haulout and survey fee.
