Stay warm in Annapolis. I was hoping to see you again on the way to the keys - maybe we can get together again next spring when I return to the frozen north.

I've found that untying the dock lines improves speed as well.

Gary!! You ARE heading south this year? Yay you! And fair winds.

We're hunkering down in Annapolis for the winter (ugh), then enjoying exploring the Chesapeake next summer, rebuilding the kitty in preparation for a 3-year cruise next year. Redid the bottom this summer and we're FAST and happy now ... amazing what removing 12 years of bottom paint can do for your speed.

Had a couple Green Coconut Margarettas, hit the sack about 10:30 and slept like a log. Motored home, though, mainly because the wind didn't come up in the upper bay till about 3 in the afternoon. When it did come up it was really woofing along.

Now, I figured that no one would ever believe a Morgan 33 O.I. would go this fast, therefore, I shot a photo of the GPS trip page, which cannot be modified by the user. It is what it is. The total time, however, includes all stops, plus time at anchorage prior to shutting down the GPS. The last 10 miles of the trip was covered in record breaking time, lots of 8.5 to 9.2 MPH speeds during that segment.

I believe you Gary.

I sailed from the Rhode River to St. Mike's in under 4 hours. Upwind, broad reach, upwind and DDW. I hit 8.3kts SOG several times on the broad reach and maintained over 6.1 kts on the upwind legs. I flew the #2, with a reefed main. The Pearson 30 is just built for that stuff, and I loved it.

I sailed right to the anchor drop in Fog Cove, only using the engine to back down and set the anchor. Late Sunday morning, I sailed right off the anchor, not using the engine. I mean, does it get any better than that? As I sailed out, there was a log canoe race going on, and a Skipjack coming in under sail. I got some great photos that I'll try to post tonight.

The rest of Sunday was a slow ride home in a fickle, 5kt breeze that was dead on the nose the whole way. I didn't tie up until 9pm.
