Ditto on Explorer charts and on Pavlidis guides.
For Abacos Dodge's Guide is also superb.
If first timer then the Skipper Bob's guide on the Bahamas is also a good (and cheap) reference.

You might find Steve PAvlidis' web site of interest. Click on: Seaworthy

Steve Pavlidis' guides are the best. The Dodge guide for the Abacos is also good.

Re: Cruising guides / charts for the Bahamas

+ 1 on the Explorer charts. The charts themselves are very accurate. There are 3 books, one for NW Bahamas, one for central, one for SE and out islands, they update one each year so in practice, each area is updated every 3 years. The text with each chart serves as the only guide book you need, with marinas, phone # for customs and immigration, shoreside resources, restaurants and provisioning, etc. If you really want a more detailed guide, that's just a guidebook, consider Doziers; but you'll still need nav charts separately. Garmin has digital versions of the Explorer charts preprogrammed into some of their handheld GPS devices.

Explorer charts are the best and most reliable.
