Thanks for your reply.

The boat's a 28', and has lived at a harbor that's in the US for around 5 years. It's owner lives in Whitehorse, Yukon, 120 miles away. The boat flies the Canadian flag. I'm assuming that means it's registered. The trailer lives in Whitehorse with the owner, so I'm assuming it's registered/licensed in Yukon. The owner says the trailer's rarely been used.

I'm also told that for overland transport through a short stretch of Canada back into the U.S., I will need a Canadian customs broker. Is that correct? Or do I do a switch of registration/nationality before transport and avoid that?

Importing a Boat from Canada

There's a boat we're getting ready to pull the trigger on, it's been registered in Canada for years, but harbored in the US.

In order to take delivery, because of our location, the boat and its trailer will have to leave the US, enter Canada, then reenter the US.

This is a private sale, so I don't have a broker to guide me.

Anyone familliar with the process and requirements for doing this?

If this question has been addressed on another thread, I wasn't able to find it.

Thanks.
