Re: Our "Take The Wheel" experience at Annapolis Boat Show

I'll explain it here...

I mentioned in the other thread I was an electrician and avid woodworker. Jon warned me, jokingly, that I'd better be careful about making that common knowledge or I'll get a lot of SailNetters wanting to invite me on their boat.

To me it had an added bit of humor. My dad called me one day (c 1975). I was still in my electrical apprenticeship at the time. He told me he was buying a cabin cruiser. I said, "You're going to buy a stink pot?" Months later he called me to tell me he bought a sailboat. "A sailboat?" I asked excitedly. He replied. "That's what you wanted, isn't it?" It wasn't long before I realized he really meant, "That's what you wanted to fix up for me, isn't it?"

Pm if you two get up this way and want to sail a 30 year old cutter like your threads ask about.
It wasn't a strange offer - check the "Buying a 30 to 40 year old boat" thread and you'll get the joke.

As Julie's stowaway partner, I'll put my foot down and say that she's not going without me, especially with the wife working!

You could go to sloopjon. Took a guy from a different forum out a couple weeks ago. The more people on sailboats the better. Your not really in the area though they are.

If you get up around Holland looking at boats or whatever give me a shout. I usually sail Friday afternoon solo (kids in school wife working) . What size boat are you looking for?

You can easily hang out at the marina with sandwiches and chips in the bag. I am sure you can sail for free.

Don't be surprised if you find us knocking on your hull soon! You two were WAY too gracious. Now we're like cats.
