I'm still alive...

Tomorrow will end the second week of my solo voyage to the sunny south Florida Keys. In more than 500 miles of travlin' south on the Intra-Coastal Waterway and Chesapeake Bay, this is only the second time I've been able to get online service. The trip has been exciting, sometimes scary, especially when the weather turned nasty, and very , very lonesome.

Tomorrow also marks my 72nd birthday, which I'll celebrate by washing some clothes, drinking a tall Margaretta, and having a chocolate cookie instead of birthday cake.

Still have more than 700 miles to go just to reach Miami, so at this rate, it will take another two or more weeks. I lost 4 days to bad weather, which resulted in my sitting out storms. So I just thought I would let you folks know that I'm not dead yet. ;)

Whatever doesn't kill you makes a good bar story. :D

And I hear Key West may have one or two bars where you can tell 'em.

Fair winds. Enjoy.

Alive is good. You are too ornary anyway to die ( smiles).

I had visions of this Morgan OI 33 with these giant tunes booming along through the swamps of NC.

Was great hearing about your progress. Happpy B Day and have a second margaretta for Donna and I. Stay safe

Gary,

Way to go man, keep it up. Happy Birthday to you on October 17. Post of your progress when you can. I'm on my way to the Keys as well so I'll be looking for Saturday's Child and a smooth singing skipper.

Enjoy...Mike

WHAT!??? Not dead yet?!? Dangit - and all this time I've been waiting for that keyboard your promised in your will. Oh well, will just have to trade you the bulldog for it.

Well, dearest Gary my friend, I am typing this from Desoto Point, FL... basically Bradenton, FL. We have been anchored off the reserve for some nights now. Blowing about 15, maybe 20. Temps about 75 now, dropping to 72. All the hatches open. A gorgeous day. Here was our sunset:

BTW - happy birthday! Look forward to seeing ya soon!

Awesome Gary, congrats on doing it man! Happy b- day as well :)

You got your gig gear with you? Gonna do some playing out along the way/once you get there? Take lots of pics so we can see them when you get back. Oh, and since I'm in a house for the foreseeable future - I have book shelf space once again.. ;)

Hit us up when you get back, lets get together again for drinks so we can see those pics and hear the stories!

Fair winds :)

Uhhh, I think you need a better wifi antenna, dude... (grin)

Happy Birthday, Gary - I'll raise a glass to you in another 10 minutes...
