Re: DIY yard

Cobb Island Marina used to allow DIY when I was there but it's been a few years. I couldn't imagine them being much different.

There's Colonial Beach Yacht Club, I believe they allow DIY.

Both are in small towns that have restaurants and grocery stores.

Re: DIY yard

Uh...how about a little more info. Are we talking about an 22' runabout or a 50' yacht?
The best yard for you depends on the answer.

Fort Washington Marina is fairly close and has the amenities you want. Rockhold Creek Marina is a little more of a drive from DC, but I saw people working on the hard there and they have head, showers, etc.

Re: DIY yard

Casa Rio Marina in Mayo, never kept a boat there but the guy 2 slips down from me lays up for the winter there. He is happy with it. Been 5 years since I was last there to look at a boat, basic amenities but that sounds like what your looking for.

Re: DIY yard

As I posted in another thread one could investigate private storage areas via Craigslist.
Vans, Trucks, Trailers, Construction Equiptment Storage
that and a conex container, you are in business.

I have no affiliation with the mentioned add.

DIY yard

Hi!
I live in Washington DC and need to find a relatively close place ( approx. 1 hour drive )to start a project boat that will last at least 2 years. I am looking for the cheapest available DIY yard. When i visited the NW of USA I saw several places that were more like yards/farms not necessarily next to the water, where one could keep a boat and work on it. Required facilities: electricity / running water/ bathrooms would be enough... any ideas? Many thanks
