Thank you for the welcomes

For John of Aria Ontario 32...

John, you mention you have a windlass on your Ontario 32. I have to decide on a vertical windlass or horizontal model.

How is your windlass set up? On the anchor locker or in the locker??

Your insight may be helpful in making a decision.

Welcome aboard. Good choice of boat!

A suggestion on the windlass. Though you can get them with a remote, as I prefer to have my hands free, I have an up/down switch at the steering pedestal and a foot switch for up at the bow. Works well for me as a singlehander.

One of the few women sailor Machusla Ontario 28

Hi there,

Well after two years of reading many threads on Sailnet , I decided to take the plunge and register.

I am a soon to be retiring teacher and decided to buy my own boat an Ontario 28.

What are my goals? To sail down the St-Laurent and do the loop over a few summers. By the way I live in the province of Quebec.

I have been sailing since I was a young adult. As a family we sailed in the Kingston area and Lake Champlain. Now I feel it's time to spread my wings and try for more challenging sailing.

The boat needs some updates one of them being an electric windlass in case
I have no crew. So yes I will have to learn many trades like wiring. I am told it is very logical .

So folks that's all for now.
