It's about as active as the Gemini group was - meaning a dozen emails a day (or you can do a all in one digest).

My Irwin 10/4 is up for sale, if you are still in the market.

Was just sitting down tonight to write up the ad and came across this thread.

Reply if you are still looking? Thanks!

Re: Looking to buy an Irwin 10-4

If you are still looking at this I can tell you that I purchased a 10/4 this summer and I love it. I am on the chesapeake and have no problem getting going. Mine is missing a centerboard so it doesnt track all that well and i am probably limited to about 30 degrees off the wind when trying to go to winward. You cant beat the amount of room you get on this for a 25' boat. 5 - 10 knots wind speed gets you a nice leisurely sail. 10-15 and you can really get going. 15-25 i have to reef the main, but then she flies (relatively, probably not going to win any races). Never been out in anything over 25 knots.

Re: Looking to buy an Irwin 10-4

One big plus of any Irwin is that there is a very active user's group with sub groups for most of the boats.

We have an Irwin Citation 34 and love her!

Thing to look out for - any of the normal things to look out for in any 30+ year old boat.

Re: Looking to buy an Irwin 10-4

The Irwin 10-4 is a VERY beamy boat with a not very modern underbody. No experience with them, but I would expect it to be a rather poor performer in the light bay airs. Lots of room below for the size of the boat.

Looking to buy an Irwin 10-4

I am considering purchase of an Irwin 10/4. I plan to use it on Chesapeake Bay for day sailing and occasional over nighters or weekends. Maybe even a longer cruise once in a while. I will also be single handed most of the time.

Any advice on anything specific or area I need to check prior to purchase? Also any info on how they handle or other sailing traits?
