Hey All,
I just wanted to say hello to all and let you know I have enjoyed lurking for the last week or so. I have lived on the water my whole life and after a ten year break started fishing again this year and then....BANG, a "friend" with a 44' Irwin got me hooked on sailing larger boats. I had only sailed small boats when younger.
While I am sure that I will eventually curse him but for now I have pulled the trigger on a 1981 US Yachts 27 that had what I wanted (wheel, Roller Furling up front, and a diesel). The boat is clean and all there so all that should be needed (knocking on wood) is to launch in the spring and to let my wife give the cabin her once over.
I can't post pics yet but I was surprised at how clean the boat is. The PO is a nice guy and will help rig/fire up/launch in the spring for a nice bay sail to my mooring behind the house in the spring. For now I look forward to hanging around here and tapping the experience on the board.

Regards,
Bill

Welcome to the fray...

Beware of the wife catching threefootitis. That's how my 1st boat ended up being 35' :)

LOL...No worries there the deal is done but she just wants to clean it up and make it "comfortable". I wouldn't mind going to a 31 but this boat was stupid cheap so if I get some use out of it I can flip in a couple of years if I want to go bigger.:laugher

I finalized the deal yesterday and now have all of the bits that came off for storage at the house (cushions, batteries, and sails along with the owners manual and diesel shop manual.
This is going to be a looong winter waiting for launch but I am sure that I will get plenty of project ideas to keep me busy over the winter.

Here are a couple of pics as I know without pics....it didn't happen:

I never hit post on my reply before.

Truth be told, she hasn't even seen it in person yet....LOL

She is giving me a hard time about some ideas for a bar citing the rule that the "cabin is hers" though
