South Africa to Caribbean

My wife and I are in South Africa and will be sailing from Cape Town to the Caribbean in early January on our Bristol 45.5. We had crew arranged for this passage but she had to pull out due to an injured back. The trip would be something like 40 days of sailing (5400 miles) plus stops at St Helena, Ascension, and in northern Brazil.

Depending on the time you have available, you could leave the boat in Brazil or Barbados/Grenada. You would be responsible for your travel costs and for getting a visa for Brazil. If things sound good so far, we can talk about things like references and questions.

You can learn more about us and the boat at onAinia.blogspot.com.

If you are willing to share some travel expense, you will get yourself a reliable crew who will

1. Show up on the agreed date.
2. Work like a slave for you, do dishes and clean head
3. Guarantee you and wife will have a good nite sleep from 9 pm to 4 am in next morning
4. Great cook in rough sea
5. Can manually steer in total darkness
6. Will leave your boat cleaner than before
7. Will fly out immediately upon arrival in destination and will not be a fifth wheel.
8. Handy with tools - diesel engine and electrical work. Intuitively know what to do.
9. Impeccable crewing tract records and excellent references.
10. Bilingual too

Good luck to you!!!

Won't say we are low budget cruisers, but we are on a modest enough budget that we cannot help with travel costs. It appears that we have some interested people who are either in SA and want to head to the Americas or don't mind the cost.

THank you. Totally understand. If I were in SA and wanting to head west, I would jump on this in a heart beat.

I checked the airfare to Cape town is over $2200 and from Brazil back to US is over $1000, plus loss of a month's income. I would rather save the money for another voyage, sailing thru Cape Horn would be nice.

Good luck and fair winds. :)
