Re: Bent I Beam

Chuck -
If you really are wanting the hunter - try HunterOwners.com - Home and ask there.

Seriously, for all we know the surveyor was blowing smoke and the 'bend' is designed in. Ask owners.
My second boat was a hunter 31, it had a dimple in the head liner under the mast, but the I beam was straight.

Re: Bent I Beam

Same answer as the other thread where you asked.

Too many good boats out there, why take on a problem.

Search sailnet, one of our users replaced his I beam on a different boat. It's doable, but why in todays market?

Re: Bent I Beam

Can't get pictures the boat is to far away now.
Its a hunter 30' 1980
would like to buy it but I'm not sure about the I beam.
Beam is bent no dout about it.The post sits on top of it.
The post seems ok no rot.
Its like someone dropped the boat on the keel ?

Re: Bent I Beam

Perhaps the bend is a sweep intentionally set to provide two points of support to the compression post??

Bent I Beam

has anyone ever seen the I beam under the compresson post bend ?
And can this be repaired ?
Its a steel I beam between the post and the Keel about 12" tall. 12" long.
Not sure how this would bend.
Any info will help.
Thanks
Chuck
