Only if you are fortunate enough to have a sand bottom. Here in the Bay, the bottom is primarily a very soft mud and disturbing it is the quickest way to ruin any visibility you may have had.

Re: Clean bottom how much?

If you can stand on the bottom while cleaning the bottom, you'll use a lot less effort. The diver that I use tells me he uses twice the air when he's not able to touch the bottom.

When I do it myself I try to work when I can stand on the bottom so I'll have two hands free -- one to clean and the other to check my work. It's very fast but occasionally I bump my head on the hull when surfacing for air. My wife is not thrilled when I come home with black CSC stains on my forehead.

You are not really on a square scow so how do fair ways of pricing come into play or is it all kind of standard? Does one add a tip for good service? I am on a trailer so I do not know. What is the custom for most areas? Kind regards, Lou
Most hull cleaners charge a per foot rate based on the length overall. Rates vary widely from region to region however. Tips are always appreciated, of course, (as in any service business) but not expected.
