Re: Forced Air Heating on PSC 34

Thanks everyone for your posts and comments. It has helped very much in my decision process. The Webascto is not going to work for my situation, so I'll continue my quest and will certainly look into the hydronic systems.

Re: Forced Air Heating on PSC 34

have a 2004 PSC34. Espar unit in port cockpit locker all the way aft. Ducting to outlets throughout port side of vessel. Factory installed and works great. Make sure you can vary fan speeds and can control output. even in N.E. late fall sailing can make boat too hot if no way to modulate. If do hydronics have resovior so doesn't cycle so much and rigged with thermostats. Using Webasto hydronic system on the Outbound with separate AC unit for the saloon. . Think Espar may be better choice in small boat like the Crealock as it doesn't take much to keep it toasty. Surprised how low the current draw is.

Re: Forced Air Heating on PSC 34

I have a 91 34 with an Espar forced air heater. The heater is installed up in the cockpit combing on the port side. The duct is routed aft through the lazarette and then forward under the starboard quarter berth between the water tank and the engine compartment. Then under the floor of the chart table and through the locker under the chart table and under the settee. There are two outlets, one under the forward end of the quarter berth and one under the hanging locker. It is all very neatly done and I assume factory installed. I can't imagine retrofitting it.

The fuel line is teed off of the engine fuel line in the engine compartment. This is not really good as it adds a potential for leaking air into the engine fuel. If I ever replace the fuel tank, I will put a separate pick up in it for the heater.

Re: Forced Air Heating on PSC 34

Have you thought about a hydronic system? You can use engine heat as well as the heat from the diesel furnace. The piping takes up less space than the air ducts and there is the ability to control fan speed in each cabin.

Forced Air Heating on PSC 34

Does anyone have forced air heating on their PSC 34? If so, where did you mount the blower unit and route the air ducting. I want to buy a Webasto system but can't workout a viable way to install the unit. My PSC is an '89.
