Re: Hello from Bangor, Maine!

Welcome Ryan,

Keep shoveling. Ha! I have one more pass with the plow truck to be ready for the next one. I will check my boat, Tundra Down, tomorrow. It is on the hard in Trenton. You have one of the world's destination sailing grounds at the mouth of the river. See you on the water.

Re: Hello from Bangor, Maine!

Welcome. I am sure you are anxious for Spring to continue your upgrades.

I am sanding, cleaning, retrofitting and will be on the hard by April for hull work and re coating.

I should lose about 20 lbs in the Southwest Florida heat and humidity with continued work on the boat this summer !!!!! LOL

Hope to see more posts and pictures of your progress. :0)

Haffro Good ole South Carolina. I grew up there. Lived in west Columbia from the ages of 5-21. Moved up to Maine about 11 years ago. I miss the warm weather, but love the scenery around here. Maybe later in life I will move south again.

Hello from Bangor, Maine!

Welclme and greetings from sunny South Carolina Being originally from New Brunswick, I've been through Bangor more times than I can count, and the wife is from Maine. Beautiful area! I know you'll enjoy the scenic sailing!

Re: Hello from Bangor, Maine!

Don,
Well I am rather new to the water side of things, but there are quite a few good places as I know them from land. If you are heading from Camden, I would surely head a little west and visit Rockland. Heading east, Belfast is nice. Across the bay Castine is a quaint little town. There are a ton of islands to visit. It would also be well worth it to make time to visit Blue Hill Bay and on to southwest harbor and MDI. You won't have any problem taking in nice scenery on all of your 6 days!

Re: Hello from Bangor, Maine!

Ryan,

Welcome to the asylum. I'm hoping to hop over to Penobscot Bay this year. We've gotten as far as Muscongus but because of time constraints we had to turn back. That's the problem with a 25 foot boat and only 6 days to cruise. So, we'll probably trailer to Camden. That's 60 knots DUW for about 3 hours. Leave at 4 AM and we're floating by 8. Have you sailed that area before? Any good harbors or gunkholes?

Oh, and we only got 20". I was hoping for a real storm.

Fair Winds,

Don

Hello from Bangor, Maine!

I thought I would say hello. Yet another new member who has learned quite a bit from this site before registering. I purchased a Pearson vanguard this past October and am in the process of cleaning and updating close to everything. I aim to take one project at a time as to not get too overwhelmed. I can't wait for this white crap to disappear so I can get some quality time out on the water. I will mainly be cruising Penobscot bay and the surrounding areas. Mostly day sailing with a couple of overnights thrown in. I know if I have a question the answer is somewhere in here!

Fair Winds!

Ryan Hafford
