Re: Columbia 28 - holding tank

Maybe consider keeping the waste deck cleanout aft (downhill) and/or opposite side of the boat from fresh water fill so as to keep the two apart... even when rinsing the deck.

Re: Columbia 28 - holding tank

only cabinet space I have in my head is under the sink and because of the arrangement of the sea cocks I dont see that option being viable.

In the V berth the Manufacturer mounted the tank center line. Right on the spine so I would need to disassemble the entire V berth platform to get enough access to stow in that area. Unfortunately I think that is going to be the ideal location.

Re: Columbia 28 - holding tank

Wherever it might fit!... most often there are few options unless you have a custom tank made to fit.. Under the V berth if there's room there is usually close to the head (good) but if any issues develop close to your berth (bad).

The idea I like is to mount the holding tank in a cabinet in the 'wasted space' up under the deck behind the head.. that means short hose runs, and the option/ability to drain by gravity in open water, and/or good suction feed for the macerator.

Columbia 28 - holding tank

So recently I refitted the basic plumbing on my 1968 Columbia. Trying to decide where to put a holding tank to make her waste compliant.

Any thoughts?
