Re: Marine Speakers

I've had good luck so far with a cheap pair of Poly Planar box speakers.

WEST MARINE Speaker at West Marine

I mounted them under the hard dodger so they are not exposed to rain or spray. The sound is not bad and at 50 bucks a pair, you can replace them without crying if they eventually stop working. I like Irunbird's idea of mounting them behind inspection ports.

Re: Marine Speakers

The best thing I've ever done with speaker installation in the cockpit of my boat was to mount them behind inspection ports. You can seal them up if the weather gets nasty and not risk ruining them, which they all will eventually succumb to the elements. The install can be a bit tricky, but you need some sort of mounting surface and every boat will probably be different..

Marine Speakers

i'm wondering about the durability of marine speakers and where to mount them. Can i mount them in the cockpit of a sailboat? They will be exposed to seaspray and the weather. I got a nice Kenwood, and the speakers seem pretty durable, but i don't know how they would stand up to the wx. Thanks!
