Re: Need help with Electrical

I have both books and have spent many hours trying to understand all their great info. I am just uncomfortable with the two alternator/regulator circuit.

One of the best electrical manuals that I've seen is the one by Calder, Boatowner's Mechanical and Electrical Manual. Might be worth a look see.

Thanks for the replies. The windlass mfg shows that 2/0 is ok. I left out some of the detail on it but wanted to show that it does have a windlass.

My big concern, since I don't understand, is if the charging circuit will work. Two identical source alternators (one on engine and one on DC gen set) feeding thru one regulator. The alts will not run at the same time.

GREETINGS EARTHLINGS:- Have you seen the book BOAT OWNER'S ILLUSTRATED ELECTRICAL HANDBOOK by Charlie Wing. ISBN 978-0-07-144644-0 I think it's a cracking referance and DIY book Printed in USA . AS ALWAYS GO SAFE

Re: Need help with Electrical

Windlass - I can't tell you if the 2/0 is good going to it, don't know the length of run or actual draw.
The rest looks good.
If you don't have a software drawing program you can get a stencil set from an art store for a about 15 bucks. It will help prod your memory, and the next owner.

For the Victron, you can feel free to do different, but for myself at least I'd throw a bone to Maine Sail @ Compass Marine and buy it from him, he certainly helps us ALL with his time and energy.

Need help with Electrical

I have a 41 Formosa that requires all new wiring and I need the help of the experts on Sailnet.

In searching past threads I found a wiring diagram that appears to fit my needs with some modifications. I have 110 amp externally regulated alternators on the engine and a DC gen set. The cruder elements of the drawing are my proposed changes. Does this seem workable??

Any and all help is appreciated!! You electrical gurus ROCK!!

David
