If you're saying that the Cuban has a big butt... you might not live long enough to get to bluewater...

sailaway21 You don't need that one at any price. She was probably worn out 5 years before the 1989 rebuild and that got 'em 15 years of revenue. Nope, this girl's been round the block. I'll bet if you track her she'll end up being one of two things; razor blades or somebody will buy and insure her and she'll be on the beach outside of Karachi while ostensibly sailing for a refit in a Singapore yard.
I wouldn't trust the broker either. Never heard of a diesel powered ship with turbines. She's almost certainly a steam turbine with diesel generators for the additional juice needed for passengers. I believe the ten tons per hour on fuel consumption though, although probably down in the 15-17KT range.
I'll think of her next time I shave.

pigslo I suspect this kind of boat is sold for scrap or to some poor millionaire that will use the hull only to refit as a luxury yacht. Maybe a university for their oceanography program.

sailaway21 Once again Paul you are missing are perfectly fine business opportunity that could result in your acheiving.... well-abject poverty perhaps!
First off, she's diesel electric and with the number of people on this site having orgasms over just that type of propulsion system your only problem in selling the propulsion system is finding a buyer with a big enough boat. The diesel-electric almost HAS to be in better shape than the hull. I'd probably wear a horse collar when surveying her-in case a double bottom gave way while walking around below!
At the current scrap steel prices she'll probably go for more than one would expect. I have the requisite ocean license and if you'd bought the dang Chris Craft we could have towed her to the Kaohshiung breakers! Been lookin' to get out of the house for a month or two anyways.
