14 races under the belt and only two discards. Many sailors were chaffing at the bit to get out into the bay to get the next discard. With only three points seperating Scott Stephens and Lejan Lethwaite the pressure was on Scott who was carrying an extra 10 points from failing on water measurement twice, to sail well enough to make it into the Worlds team. We towed our young charges out at around 10:30 a.m. and sat around off of Humewood beach in a light north easter waiting and waiting for the wind. Eventually Richard Stephenson made the call at 12:30 for everyone to proceed back to the harbour for lunch. Not too soon for some of the sailors who were beginning to feed the fish in the oily and bumpy conditions. The general feeling around camp was that that was it for the regatta, but, this was not to be as the wind came up and we were called out again to do battle in a steady east south east with a rising swell. A neutral line was laid and we were off at 15:10. The wind strength was constant at 10 knots and we had swell of around 2.5 metres running. Rescue ducks were placed at the gate as it was 300 metres from the harbour wall and close to a lee shore. The middle left of the course was the favoured side for both beats. The race took 40 minutes to complete and only 6 minutes seperated the first and last finishers. Top three in the last race sailed today:
- 1st Brevan Thompson, 2nd Timothy Manley, 3rd Ashwin Daniels
