LAKELAND -- Mere months ago, Kathleen Road was a narrow slalom course where streams of frustrated drivers squeezed between orange barrels and construction cones. Now, as the road-widening project there nears completion, it is smooth sailing -- with four lanes instead of two, and the barrels and cones an unpleasant memory.
