On this date in 1981, The Sun reported that sailing buffs from all over the country flocked to Big Bear Lake for the second weekend of Sail '81. The second annual Big Bear Open Cup sailboat regatta was an invitational race for Prindle catamarans and Tornado Olympic Classic sailboats.
