From that article: Coastal legislators last week proposed a law that would penalize boat owners who abandon their vessels.

Wonder how much of "Coastal" taxpayers' money it took to come up with that ingenious solution?

I just LOVE bureaucracy.

I would guess that when you sell or give away a boat, you should make sure the ownership name changes, so it wont come back to you as the last registered user. I gave away a car to a charity and months later received an $800 bill for towing and storage for illegally parking. I was able to prove I had given it away. They would not take my word for it. Good thing I still had a recept. I would think they would do the same for your old boat if they had to remove it.
