Southron, I see you have a shoreline trailer. Did those tires & wheels come stock when new? Cause My Shoreline trailer came with 10 in wheels.

i am really not sure what they came with i have only had it about a month .
i towed it home around 400 miles and it towed fine.

I'm sure it tows fine, but when it comes to launching, closer to the water means not as much vehicle down the ramp. 10" wheels allow the trailer to hug the water a little more for launching.

ahhh! i had never even thought about that ,new at this whole thing.
i am taking basic keel boat class next days off ,probally wont get it to the boat ramp
before that .
if it gets to be a hassle i will change the wheels , at the most its only 6 miles of back roads to the launch

My trailer has 12'' wheels, and launching I can see being a problem so yesterday I purchased 20' by 2'' square 11 gauge steel beam. it will stow (with brackets) under the centre frame of the trailer. Then at the ramp install into the reciver hitch on my truck and with a 2'' ball to the trailer hitch. see any problems with this set up ??

i would worry about something that long bending from the weight ,you might
put one of those jacks with wheels on it in the middle and then jack the wheels down to the ground to support the weight .
let us know how it works

I would think that 2" sq tubing would take a heck of a lot of weight before bending, especially when the tongue weight of a 2" ball is usually only 500lbs max. I don't think you need 20ft long though. I have (I think) a 3 1/2" X 5ft L square tube galvanized (salt water) & mounted permanently under the trailer center frame. Inside it is a 10ft long 3" (I think) square tube, galvanized with a 2" receiver bolted to the front of it. Basically I unhitch the truck from the surge brake receiver (after I've blocked the wheels!), roll the truck back 15ft, unpin the lower 3" tube & pull it forward 8ft, repin it, hook up & I'm away. I also made a hitch for the front of the truck so I can maneuver wayyyyy easier with this longer trailer down the ramp. Looking forward while doing it is just icing on the cake!

Sorry I misread the post earlier...YES I see something wrong with this setup! You have a 20ft arm with possibly a 100lb load pulling your vehicle hitch DOWN ! I don't think the 2" pipe will bend too much but it may rip the hitch off your truck! Not only that your going to have a GREAT time trying to line up that ball to your trailer. My 2cents. But try it ! I could be way wrong, if it works post a video, hey even if it doesn't post one! (may be a better one!)
