They may make a distinction between insurance for your boat and liability insurance.

Liability is often much less but they only pay if you cause damage to someone else.
Your boat is not insured with a liability only policy but that may be all the marina needs.

PaulSims, sorry to go back from your post in December but I recently got a North American 23 and will start renting a slip at England harbor. Will I need insurance on this boat or just liability? Is it even mandatory on the reservoir? I'm thinking minimal coverage as I paid $2500 for the whole boat/trailer.
