I would find it extremely unlikely that either of those pins would shear. Am I missing something? Why do you need a spare?

i figure with taking the mast up and down there is always a chance of lossing a pin .
would rather have a spare then have to go buy one .
besides i know have 3 of the large ones and none of the small ones as it came with a jury rigged pin

Kenyon 3650 Mast Section

i installed this halyard plate this afternoon , end up only one hole lined up . i put a bolt and nut on the two plates . used a center punch to mark the 3 new holes and drilled each one . adding a bolt and nut in each new hole to keep it lined up .
used butyl tape from the sailnet tutorial to seal it .

i did get some longer bolts its a good thing because they were barley long
enough when i first started between the extra plate and the butyl tape it adds up .

will try and get a picture up soon .

Re: mast deck hinge plate and halyard organizer plate on spirit 23

raised my mast today and with the extra plate in there i had to put some slack in the headstay and the back stay in order to conect the back stay .

i am going to have a mast crutch built would have made life way easier
