I'm how can you release the top and still use the vang (fitting) to hold the top up??

My thinking is that if both the vang and the top are attached to the slide then when the top is up you should be able to pull the vang to shorten it therefore not aloowing the slide to travel back down the mast. (Just a theory)

I have a loop on the pop top front only. This attaches to the tang on the mast. The vang doesn't need to be hooked up cause the pop top pivots back to lower, it can't pivot back if it's tied to the mast, so it stays up regardless.
