Spirit 28 owners?

I have a Spirit 28, and I am looking for more owners. I have been to a few great websites on them, which offer a wealth of knowledge on docs on them.

I would like to see what people are doing with thiers and where you are as well. I am in Oceanside CA, and am looking forward to hearing from some of you soon.

Cheers

Dube

Re: Spirit 28 owners?

Oh great...Had not really paid attention to them before, but after visiting Glastron Spirit 28 Sailboat - Spirit28 Home Page I now really want one :S. Thanks a lot. I have a 23 and would also like a bigger boat for taking out parties.

Do you have any photos of your boat? I would love to see it inside and out

Re: Spirit 28 owners?

Hi,

I just recently purchased a Spirit 28, a 1979, here in Canada on the east coast. This particular boat spent its early years on the great lakes and St. Laurence. Then out to Halifax and eventually Newfoundland.

She is still on the hard, and I'm hoping to get her in the water in the next few weeks.

Looks like a nice boat, very salty and looks to be pretty well equipped. It looks like it is High Hopes? Which I saw on the site above.

Re: Spirit 28 owners?

Hi,

It is indeed Jerry and Sylvia's 'High Hopes' from the spirit 28 site. High Hopes was brought out east by Jerry around 2000 or so, and he sold it to the previous owner in 2008. Jerry stepped up to a 42', a c&c i believe.
Jerry put a great deal of work into the boat and she is in excellent shape. She's still winterized now, and looks a little tired, but with some fresh anti-fouling and a little spit and polish she will be shiny in no time!

Re: Spirit 28 owners?

Just a little update on my Spirit 28. After a busy summer I managed to put in some good runs.
Several day sails, and a few 40 Kt weekend trips.

I did have a fair bit of trouble with my motor, which I think now was due to excessively fouled injector nozzles, and old fuel. Seems better now.

She's back on the Hard, and a major project for me this winter will be replacing the fuel tank.

Re: Spirit 28 owners?

I have a 1981 Spirit 28 that I am prepping for extended cruising in the carribean. I have many mods and upgrades to my sailboat. I added a nav station, new windows and ports, amateur HF radio etc.
I will have 2- 140 watt solar panels, a wind generator and refidgeration aboard soon.

call or email if you would like to talk about Spirit 28 sailboats!!!
