Why do you want a tiller? My O'Day 30 came with a tiller and the first owner replaced it with Edson wheel steering. The tiller hardware still protrudes from the stern cockpit helm surface. Curious?

Re: Replace Wheel with Tiller? Can it be done?

I want a tiller because I was a racer before I was a cruiser. A tiller lets me feel the boat, responds more quickly, is a simpler system, and responds more quickly. And, for me, a wheel on a boat under 35', a wheel is a little absurd.

We all have different "must haves". For me, it's a tiller; aft-boom mainsail sheeting; in-cockpit traveller, adjustable backstays, and so on.
