I recently acquired a 1973 Widgeon.
The foot of the mast is unfinished. It fits through a hole in the deck into the hull where it is stepped.
Should there be some type of fitting for the foot of the mast or is it designed to be unfinished? I see in the parts list there is something called a Mast Step Casting.

I have an 1981 Widgeon class number 5612 the Amanda-Jane. The mast is a hollow aluminum tube with a built in groove for the bolt rope of the sail. The end of the mast is open (unfinished) and fits onto the mast step which is mounted on the hull.
