Well that 'splains it. I'd suggest that you drain and dry out the post. Then pour some liquid foam down the tube, be mindfull of the temperature when the foam kicks...do it in small batches.

Thanks to both Denise and Scott.... I've been wondering about the wood around the post. I have looked at it from the bottom up and it does appear it is just a thin layer, but it still worries me. I'm going to think this one through and hopefully come up with something to keep that area dry. But I do have to thank you for pointing out that it's condensation. I've replaced the cover twice and have it sealed so good that it wouldn't leak under water!
