Post Oday 30 bilge thru-hull

I have a 1983 Oday 30, it has a manual and automatic bilge pump installed. The manual pump is locater just under the stern seat. Both pumps share the same discharge thru-hull, which is locate directly above and very close (about 2") to the exhaust pipe. The discharge hose coming from the automatic pump exits from the back of the quarter birth making a sharp turn upward for about 18 inches or so then loop down to the thru-hull. This seem to be necessary do to the closest of the thru-hull to the waterline. I want to know from other Oday 30 owners if this is the original configuration. The backwash from this layout is probably between 1.5 and 2 gallons. If this was changed in later model 30's please explain?

It's the same in my boat. the backwash isn't that much really, I've thought about changing it but most likely won't.

Bilge

Thanks Denise. I'm glad to know it is the original layout and not the result of uninformed modifications.

I replaced all of the cockpit drain and bilge pump hoses on my '78 30. It was a tough job laying in cramped quarters. I replaced all of the through hull fittings with new bronze ones as the old plastic had started to shatter. My bilge is dry. I have both an electric self priming and rule pump each on the float switch. The manual pump I have never used.
