LOL! I see you have been busy Drew! If the cow is truly stuck, he may be stuck with the vessel for a while.

I was fishing to find out what style of sailboat you were into.

Well, I got the boat in the water yesterday. No crew so I rigged and launched her solo. Everything was fine until after I made sail and jumped from the coaming into the cockpit. A cushion on the cockpit floor slid out on me and I landed on my back across the keel winch board. It was so loud that folks partying on the beach heard it and stopped to look. Seeing how the boat was now under sail right off the ramp in a cove surrounded by docks, I couldn't lay there and groan. I had to suck it up, get on the tiller and drop the keel. The wind was great, just enough to hit 6 or so upwind but not so much that I had to round up or spill wind. It was a good sail in all directions so I stayed until right before the wind died. Of course, I hit that stupid bar again (the hole must be about two feet wide) and hung on the rudder 30' from the ramp. No prob, just drop sail, pull the rudder and paddle in. So here I am back in the office with a sore bum but my back is fine, Go figure.

Not a bad solution Surf. Although I believe his reaction was appropriate. After all it wasn't as bad an insult as if he were called a "Geordie".

Carlie........
Isn't sailing fun?! Sounds like that belongs on PB's thread of Things I learned the Hard WAY. But you survived to tell about it. Bet you can't wait to do it all over again and again and again.

back to the Fight Club after a land locked week at Boy Scout camp in 100 degree temps. ugh. It is somewhat curious trying to figure out a week of posts in an hour - but all seems well in the thread - a bit of bickering, a kid stirring things up, manhood being challenged, drinking being promoted.......... It's great to be back.

as for your drink Surf, it sounds like a waste of some pretty good ingredients - but in the interest of giving something that sounds bad a chance, I'll mix up one (or order one - I would like to see the look on the barkeeps face) and report back.

Excellent! I have to try one as well. It's just such a good name. I actually got a great sail in last night. It was breezy down here on the Bay. 16 knots with some 25 knots puffs. Quite a bit of fun. The humidity was also quite low today so I was able to get a lot of work done on the boat. I am following Epihanes instructions closely. I applied my first coat of clear/high gloss today. I thinned it 50 percent per the instructions. My wood was so dry it drank it up. Tomorrow, I will sand with 220 grit and apply a coat thinned by 35%. Then its 5 coats thined by 10%. Yikes!

No sailing for the next two weekends. Drove down to Fla. last night and going out deepsea fishing tomorrow. {My brother in law has a Donzi ZF38 Offshore/Nice Boat/No Sails but still very nice!}
