Thanks Surfesq... I've got a great invite to visit a friend in Opua, New Zealand, where his boat is normally moored... I think I'm going to take him up on it.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Been on vacation for a bit and haven't checked in on this thread for a while now. Glad to see she's still going strong. It seems the bickering has subsided and some really interesting S&*t is being explored...or perhaps its just the members who hate the thread have stopped peeping in on it. Nah, they couldn't if the wanted to.

SD: NZ is awesome. I have had the good fortune to visit there several times. Both times I was there for a little surf and turf....Helicopter Skiiing in the South near Lake Wanaka and surfing in the North...Its a beautiful country and the women are exceptional.

Here is what it is like to live in the Washington, DC area. Today it is hot as hell with 100% humidity and the only breeze is the hot air coming out of my mouth. The local Sailors are all waiting for the end of the summer up here!

In Other News:

"D.C. Police Chief Charles H. Ramsey warned yesterday that criminals increasingly are following money to places in the city once considered safe, such as the Mall, where two robbers lay in wait near the Washington Monument before surprising tourists Tuesday night." Allison Klein and Petula Dvorak, Washington Post Staff Writers, Thursday, July 13, 2006; Page A01

For those of you elsewhere in the world, you may not know that one of things that made DC such a wonderful place to live for so many years was the fact that the criminals just stayed away from the nicer neighborhoods. You could always count on them to rob the person standing next to them in the hood, (even if it was their Mom or kid), and not take the time to wander.

But that has all changed. I suppose it was inevitable that the criminals would figure out that the rich people living in rich neighborhoods have more money. Or maybe the "Just Say No" campaign is actually starting to work. The only problem is that the last thing we need is a bunch of sober criminals with ambitition. Perhaps the Police should drive around the bad neighborhoods tonight and hand out booze and drugs? Hmmmmmm, something to ponder for sure.

PBZeer: Yet another excuse for you to huddle in the safety of your little ship without leaving the Harbor.

Smile Poor little Surfesq

Would you like me to come over and protect you from the big bad pick-pockets?

There is a pretty large poor and homeless population in LA too. Just watch your back and don't carry expensive cameras/computers/large ammounts of cash when you go out. Don't look like a flashy lawyer and take off your Rolex, dude!

I lived in Crenshaw for 2 years (half a mile from the "Jungles" an extremely high crime area) and was not mugged once, "Be careful, travel with others when possible and don't go out alone after dark." These wise words from my mom worked well for me when neighborhood muggings were a daily occurance.

The few times, I noticed someone following me too closely, I ducked into a crowd of people or a well-lit shop. I got cornered by 2 men once in a parking lot, they came around and parked next to my car in broad daylight and intimidated me. But after giving them $40 bucks they left me alone - they wanted all $60 that I had in my wallet, but I refused, a gal needs to eat!

When I was walking away, they offered to take me to lunch with the cash they had just scammed from me!!!

Pretty ironic... Surfesq you are just not used to how the "other half" lives. Please hike up your stones and take a sturdy woman along to protect you if you can't handle it!

Sweetheart, I have lived in the City for 30 years. (Bad neighborhoods to Good neighborhoods). I have seen the good, the bad and the ugly. One thing I can tell you about naive liberal girls like you is that you walk around the hood like no one will bother you because they know you "care."
Thanks for the chuckle by the way...A few "scary" men park next to you and you hand them cash unsolicited! You are so Urban....lol. I suggest you stick to the suburbs of the mean streets of Cali....

Whatever...

1. I am not that Liberal.
2. I don't expect to be protected because I "care", I do take precautions.
3. If 2 large men in a parking lot physically threatened you and demanded your wallet, you would probably cry. I told them they could not have my wallet and got rid of them without giving them all of my cash. Not bad for a "naive girl from the suburbs"...
4. 2 friends of mine were jacked for their wallets in the area, one had a knife pulled on them (in my parking structure) and one a gun.
5. If you are so tough, why do you whine so much?
6. I need some RUM! I am in a mood today.
7. Stay off my last nerve with your inane assumptions about me and my life.

Hmmmmmm, it's only the 13th of the month so that's not it.....
Now you say were threatened.....
Me Whine? Do you want some cheese to go with that Whine?
Rum...I am sure there are lots of guys on this site who will buy you as many drinks as you can consume....
Stay off your last nerve with my "inanane assumptions about me and my life." Not assumptions Dear...observations.

But remember...this is a sailing site and you are a not a sailor.

Again, let me remind everyone why we are are on this thread..."We" (not you PBooty), are here because we want to go fast and get wet on our sailboats, because we think guys like Bruno and Ellen are fricking cool. Because we want to sail our boats towards a horizon that we may never reach.

You see that is the beauty of sailing....It's something you can't possibly get because you need a motor.

You can go as your balls (in your case ovaries), will let you go....I wish you had consulted me before buying that damn "houseboat" of yours....We could have convinced you to buy a sailboat!!!! Perhaps then your nutty questions about stuff would be more palatable.
(I hope your day improves honey ).

(PBooty Boys this is your chance to defend her).

If only...

...I could give you a sift kick in the ___- my day would be much improved!

And I WILL sail and HAVE in the past and intend to pursue a life of piracy as soon as my 401K is maxed out!
