It was 68, sunny and had winds steady at 15 gusting to 25. I had crew but one of them had a Sister go into labor so no sailing for me. Too much air to singlehand, unless I wanted to put the stick in the water.

Cushions.

Hey guys - no one answered this question a few posts back.

My solution was to make my own - you can buy good quality foam at a decent fabric store, use an exacto knife to cut it to size (just measure the area and mark the foam with a pencil). Then, use the appropriate fabic to stitch a cover. I am planning to make several for my boat and will probably put in a zipper so that you can take the cover off and toss it in the wash. If you use a more plastic-like fabric you can probably just wipe them down when dirty.

All you need is a little know-how and good cutting skills - really not hard at all. My little Singer does the job just fine.

Let me know if you have more specific questions on this.

Insulting Insults.

Why is being a "girl" always an insult?

Surfesq - get a clue - you of all the skirt-chasers out there ought to appreciate a good woman when she comes along.

Seriously, you seem to be frozen in the ice ages - look around, besides your computer, do you see a cold furry thing that resembles a mammoth?

Look Crazy Cat Lady...if you can't hang with Big Dogs Stay on the Porch...

So are you saying you like me? "Surfesq - get a clue - you of all the skirt-chasers out there ought to appreciate a good woman when she comes along." Thats an interesting twist.

By the way...your design ideas sound quite enticing...You should do a little sewing on the side for hire.

kokopelli9 is an unknown quantity at this point
Pirate's Booty,

It would help if you would post your requests for help under a title addressing the issue, but then maybe it is not help with the sailing issues that you really want, but instead just like to try to play with the boys.
In reference to your cushions however...they are not difficult to make but harder than you make it sound...cutting foam with an Xacto knife will not yield nice clean cut smooth cushions...try an electric knife for better results. And if you use a more "plastic like fabric" they will be easier to care for but hotter and will stick to your skin and be very uncomfortable...like sitting on one of those flotation cushions.
People at this site in the past were always eager to offer help...there is a much more "cocky and opinionated" crowd here these days...doesn't make for a gracious attitude on here. I do think though that if you truly want suggestions and will post them correctly you will receive help. Being female is not an insult but expecting more because of it or using it to get your way is. Prove yourself a worthy sailor and the respect will come.

But she is a stinkpotter after all. You can easily recognize them by the Occipital Brow.

As for your other opinion: "there is a much more "cocky and opinionated" crowd here these days...doesn't make for a gracious attitude on here."
I don't agree with that. This particular thread is all about having fun.
PBooty knows that well.

It is amusing that you feel compelled to lecture her about the site etiquette. Help me out here...What prompts you to weigh in on that issue?

Go back and read the thread I cited this morning where some poor guy three years ago asked about slap noise on the transom. He got beat down pretty good by a bunch of long time know-it-alls. Even better, read the thread started by Newport 41 who was merely seeking some validation for his boat choice.

In my humble, opinion, this site needed some life. There are 4 or 5 guys who think they own it and criiticize anyone who disagrees. I merely pointed out the obvious and slapped their noses. No cockiness...just fun.

kokpelli9, interesting point and possibly true. Not all of us are opinionated and as far as this thread goes, it's more like a friendly banter, chat kinda thing. Posting real questions here are probably a waste of time as everyone in this thread is too busy chatting it up.
