Hey Sgirl,
Nice pics. We also had a boom furler until very recently. I now am happily back to slab reefing (low tech), new boom, bag, revamped newish main. I sold stuff to pay for this - out of pocket only $10

How does she go in a following sea?

PS, Is your better half giving a rude sign to the camera?

....so the Delai Lama walks into a pizza store... "make me one with everything"

( Smack this is my attempt to divert some drunken silliness away from your very philosophical dream thread dude)

And the dough boy says, "You don't have to be so crusty." [Previous joke self-edited to avoid an international incident - even though it was really funny]

A little too syrupy on the dream thing? Still and Bluto are cracking me up.

Thanks for laying down cover fire.

Thanks everybody! We love crew, all are welcome to sail if you're in the New England area. We sail into December or 'til we're frozen to the tiller.

Boom furler- We have owned this vessel for a year now and the honeymoon with the boom furler is OVER. We thought it would be great for easy reefing and quick storage
The damn thing has to be PERFECTLY balanced to lower or it binds at the plate closest to the mast. We had no contact with the previous owners so like all good sailors we've been "winging it" with this system. We've already replaced the luff tape, it wore out from rubbing against that plate. Sometimes we just drop the main and sail tie it to the boom until we get in and then roll it very slowly into the boom casing. It has be rolled in VERY evenly or it binds. We've picked the brains of our trustworthy sail maker and his advice is to lower the clew. That helped but didn't solve the problem.
Reefing is easier. Raising the main is a hugely strenuous affair!!! We've lubed everything, have a Lewmar 30, two speed winch and we still exert serious energy to bring that main to the top. This system is my LEAST favorite on my boat.

St Anna- the canoe stern in a following sea is the definition of "Be all you can be". I was recently sailing downwind with the mizzen sail, and the sta'sil and jib set wing to wing...YES I'm bragging...it was awesome!!!! We had 6 knots on the GPS.

No, the Captain is raising a beer to our friend taking pictures

Wind Magic- thanks, we love her name and did the entire name changing ceremony that involved much libation and respect for the Gods of sea & wind.

Chall03-I LMAO ! ! !

High of 50 today, blowin' 20-30kts...time to go SAILING boys
