As for curling, any sport you can play with a cocktail and a cigar in hand can't be all bad.
Didnt Bill Clinton say something like that ?

I'm not sure what he said, but it was a while before I could enjoy my Cohibas again.

I have no clue about any of this.. but I want to learn.. I'm trying to prepare for a challenge of living on a boat for a whole year.. the main rules of the challenge are to never leave the boat until the year is up and no one else is allowed on.. any suggestions on what kind of boat to look into? I don't want something huge and luxurious, but I don't want something too small either.. any suggestions would be great.. cheers and thanks to you all!

To store the amount of stove fuel and food, you would need at least a 45' Also plenty of Ah and a watermaker. As for anchoring out - you guys in the land of the free -(aren't) so you would have to move - Try sailing around the world 3 times.

Oh and this is the right forum for you.
Good luck to you.

hey fenix - here's what I recommend as research (it's over at Sailing Anarchy):

Couple Cruise for 1000 Days

It's about 1100 pages long...so it'll take you a while, but that's the point isn't it?

Seriously, it will give you some perspective as to what you're up against - in every conceivable way.

BTW - I dig the Blues Brothers look.

Ladies - the dude's got serious boat! A T41? Sweet! Usually it's some sweaty guy with a Coronado 25 that wants to take you down to Jalisco for tacos. This ain't that guy.

+1 for Bob.
There, fixed it for you.
Bubble, dude, you can't be that sweaty guy. Remember, you're the one freezing to death within a minute after you've tried pushing away from your dock and fallen overboard in 5 knots of wind.

You never get chicks doing stuff like that!

thought i was gonna take a dip today. we were on the lake in my sons boat when a gust hit us while on a starboard reach. i was cat nappin' on the port side when i felt her heel. when i looked up my nose was two inches away from thirty four degree water and a lot of it. i rolled and kicked then climbed to the dry side of the boat as fast as my six two, two hundred fifty five pound ass could go. that's when i saw that look of confusion on perrys face and screamed for him to let go of the tiller. don't know if he was obeying my command or was just startled by my shrill girlish shriek, but he let go. the boat righted, i swallowed my heart, checked my pants for lumps and started laughing. my boy thought i musta been nuts. no, amazingly instead of spending the next few minutes in the lake, trying to right a boat, i was dry! turned out, he was gettin used to his tiller extender and it got squirrely on him. made him use it the rest of the day to make sure he got used to it...........

yep, my boy got his rail wet today. sniff, i'm so proud, sniff.........

Heh-heh. The Wet Rail...a proud day in any father's life.

As for the sleeping on watch, dude, what the hell? Were you sleeping off your head-cheese sandwiches?

PS - My 6 year old was talking about how impressed he was the "Neil Einstein" walked on the moon. "One small step for man. One giant step for relativity."
