30 foot Pearson - I hope to go off shore - someday - maybe this is not the right boat for that - first things first. Who is Calcutta referring to?

I don't know who Calcutta is talking about... as for autopilots, the tiller ones are fairly inexpensive, and you'd probably need something like the Raymarine 4000 for something the size of your boat.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

I must have the highest percentage of people who joined this site solely for the purpose of complaining about either me or this thread. That is pretty funny. Well Calcutta, what I need is either for the complainers to come back or a new Thread Bitch to appear. That was your first Post...we will see if you its you.
As for your point, whether I have "revealed" myself or not is subjective. The more interesting question is whether I would bust on you or anyone else in person. I would. Besides, I didn't create the thread to entertain anyone but myself.
More importantly, the goofballs get the point that if they come in here and try to lecture or offer up stupid advice they will hear about it. Most are just too scared to come back. As a result, there is a core of interesting people (real sailors) who want to discuss sailing in a kook-free enviroment. Sorry thats not entertaining for you.
Or, maybe I am just in a good mood this week. I did post that item about the Great Lakes and people doing it on the beach. I was hoping someone would complain about me making fun of the Lakes...Oh well.

There is plenty in the world that I just don't get. And I am not being an Esq butt boy here - there is plenty of his antics or opinions that I don't agree with. But....... I am not sure that he hides much - just because you don't like what he says doesn't mean that he doesn't "reveal" it. What you see (read) is what you get - like it or not. Not to say that there isn't some trickery from time to time!

The Great Lakes Rock!
Ya gotta get to Chi-town for Veneitian Night. (this weekend)
One heck of a party, serfesq would love it.

Than go and anchor out for the Air and Water Show and watch all the amatures who don't know how to set a hook. Get there early and watch'em coming from every direction, drop a line over and drift. It's very commical but not very funny. My favaorite was a go-fast who had to leave his engine runninig for three hours because he couldn't anchor his 250k's boat.

Unfortunately, this week, I am going to be joining Surfesq in having a boat that is out of the water—as I am hauling my boat to do some necessary repairs and modifications. I hope to get the ground tackle system added to the boat. I also have to clean the hull, and repaint, as the current waterline is a bit too low, and the barnacles are feasting on the gelcoat. UGH. I am trying a different bottom paint from the usual, called CopperCoat, which is about 85% pure copper when the paint dries. I'll let you know how it goes.

SailDog: why pull the boat now - can't it wait until the snow flies?

I love the Great Lakes...Plus, we just don't get drunk people fornicating in the water right off the beach down here. You people like your drinking and Polish sausages up there! lol.
Definitely let me know about that Copper Coat that sounds interesting.
