Let's see..I sail my boat to exotic locations and play golf. I also Scuba dive, fish, kite sail, kayak, climb mountains, drink beer, chase young women, reef at about 18 knots, spent 365 days on the hook last year. I like putting my bike in the dinghy along with my golf clubs and paddling ashore , riding my bike to the golf course and getting in 18 holes on a spectacular island golf course.....not much getting rusty or dusty here in da islands....

Hey aevent - welcome to FC dude....ahm...except I think you wondered into the wrong bar. The golfing/tame-sailing/coupon-clipping thread is here:

And it's as dead as Elvis.

However, about that beer and young women chasing....

Smack, the golf part is offset by the "reef at 18 knots" part. and the "south china sea " part. He's out there. You're on a shrinking lake.

and, as we all know...
if you sail on a lake that shrinks with the season...you don't sail.

The best part of the after golf routine is my Thai girlfriend washes my putter, cleans my balls and gets me a cold beer, all without asking... Then we talk about the game....

Oh, I forgot the sailing part...lets see, 4000 miles plus last year. Navigated 250 miles deep up a river into the heart of Borneo. Spent 2 weeks with a long house community. They were amazed we came so far. Enjoyed showing them how I brew beer on the boat, also sampled copious quantites of their home brewed rice wine. Attended a wedding where the bride could not make the ceremony, she was in the hospital giving birth! The Western Philippines are a cruisers paradise. Not many sailors here either. Friendly natives, trading with the locals for fish and fruit. Great wreck dives in coron on sunken WWII Japanese Warships. Excellent winward work to Subic bay. Excellent craftsmen to put some new life inot this old gal of mine. Then down wind passages for the next 3 months. Sailing on and off the anchor most days. Does anybody do this any more? Then a 1000 mile passage out the Palawan Passage, skirting the "dangerous ground", hotly contested territory by the Chinese, Vietnamese and Philippines. Wonderful light wind passage making, star filled nights, dips in the Sea when becalmed, baking bread, homemade Pizza's, Mexican food and some really delicious Mahi Mahi on the grill. Damn, and I coulda been in the office......
