Getting back on topic for a bit...the Climate Conference in New York this week is not getting a lot of media coverage despite hundreds of scientists attending and voicing their concerns with the GW alarmists...and lots of good new information. What a surprise...NOT!

Anyway... the biggest news is that the newly formed Nongovernmental International Panel on Climate Change (NIPCC) has issued a 50 page document put together in a rigourous manner which systematically attacks much of the UN's IPCC report with scientific evidence from peer reviewed journals including the IPCC's own data in many cases.

If you are interested in this subject...it is a long but very well laid out paper and well worth reading...both for the scientific data AND for the knowledge of how and why the data is being distorted by politics and politically funded scientists. Here's the link:

I hope this settles the notion that the science of GW is settled!!

Here's one inconvenient piece of data:

It's settled if they say it's settled. Didn't you get the memo?

I mean, didn't Algore win a Peace Prize for his scientific work? An Oscar? Who are we to dispute such luminaries as decide these things?

Weather Channel Founder: Sue Al Gore to Expose Global Warming Fraud

By Noel Sheppard
Created 2008-03-04 10:22
By now most people are aware that the founder of The Weather Channel, John Coleman, said global warming is "the greatest scam in history [0]" last November.
On Monday, while speaking at the 2008 International Conference on Climate Change [1] being held in New York City, Coleman took his criticisms further by advocating that all those involved in the sale and marketing of carbon credits, including Al Gore, should be sued "to finally put some light on the fraud of global warming.”
As reported [2] over at the Business & Media Institute by my colleague Jeff Poor (emphasis added throughout, h/t to many):
Coleman also told the audience his strategy for exposing what he called “the fraud of global warming.” He advocated suing those who sell carbon credits, which would force global warming alarmists to give a more honest account of the policies they propose.
“[I] have a feeling this is the opening,” Coleman said. “If the lawyers will take the case – sue the people who sell carbon credits. That includes Al Gore. That lawsuit would get so much publicity, so much media attention. And as the experts went to the [witness] stand to testify, I feel like that could become the vehicle to finally put some light on the fraud of global warming.”

Now look at the unbiased way CNN treats this conference. You'd never guess that the intro to the report referenced above was written by the former President of the National Acadamey of Science...just a bunch of nut jobs in a hotel. This should make you angry.

They need to get 'sound bite' aware speakers. Really.
They presented themselves very badly. Spend some money on a PR firm.

I'm pretty much the guy that sits on the sidelines and cheers but takes no action. On this one (anti GW, fear mongering money driven drivel), I'd donate and take action.
I'm tired of living in a 'state of fear'.
I got my wife to read the book, and now she's ready to activist on their ass too.

Chuckles, there's nothing high brow about it and I wouldn't presume to group you with anyone.

By reference to Soros you not only got a Googleable item that allowed you to spend as much time as you cared to on the subject, but you got a good example of how that mentality plays out.

To challenge certainty, be it as outright challenge or through the notion of balance/compromise, is to challenge Man's ability to reason. That always leads to Statism -- sooner or later.

The Q isn't can we know something with certainty, but how do we establish certainty? (The convenient consequence of the POV on "your" side is that it focusses mental effort on motives, persona, self-perception, etc., not on a search for the truth(s) of the issue at hand.)
I thought we'd worked that out - I'll presume what ever I want, you rant and rave incoherently all you want.

Anyway, keep up the good work here guys and gals. Eventually it is going to come down to hitting the streets and stopping whatever proposed tax & control grid/lifestyle police-state from being implemented to 'save the planet' Good to know the 'wool' they are pulling has so many holes in it, probably due to some invasive moth species that would die in a warmer world.
