OK Guys,

I think I'll add my two cents as I work on this very issue. Here is the deal.

1) Is Global Warming occurring?

Answer is Yes. (Without it life on earth could not exist.)

2) Is the rate of Global Warming occurring over the past few decades increasing compared to the geologic history of the world?

Answer is Yes. My colleagues who have actually collected the evidence from ice cores, fossils and other geologic evidence have clearly and with almost ZERO dispute show the rate of Global Warming to be at an all time high in the history of the earth. The data does go back 100s of millions of years.

Has the concentration of Anthropogenic greenhouse cases increased over time?

Answer: Since the industrial revolution, the concentration of Anthropogenic greenhouse gases has increased.

Is there direct evidence indicating a causal relationship between the rate of increase of Anthropogenic Greenhouse gases to the rate change/increase of global warming?

Answer. NO. There is evidence that appears to correlate the two data but there has not yet been a method or evidence to indicate a causal relationship.

Is there evidence that correlates the data?

Answer: Yes. It is called the "hockey stick graph." If you plot the rate of change for global warming and the rate of change for anthropogenic sources of greenhouse gases over time, one will observe the two plots match each other. The stick part of the graph begins when the industrial revolution begins.

Do humans affect the global climate?

Answer: Yes *they emit waste in many forms and therefore do have an impact on the global climate.

Are humans solely responsible for global warming?

Answer: NO Volcanoes, the biosphere and other natural factors created the process of Global Warming way before humans existed.

Are humans responsible for significantly (being defined as changing the global climate--note I did not say increase or decrease in GW)contributing to global warming?

Answer: Yes. The question is to what degree.

It is my humble opinion that humans are increasing the rate of change to global warming--They are not the cause of it.

Thanks for the post Yam. Can the science tell us whether climate change is going to be;

a. bad
b. good
c. bad for some, good for others.

Depends on How much we try to limit our impacts

Depends on how much we limit our contributions and you can cross out option B for sure...simply based upon the pollution and toxins we are releasing...in other words...poison is usually bad for planets and their inhabitants...

I have to wonder souljour, if you're aware of what is necessary for something as primative as indoor plumbing?

how do I post an ad here?

sorry to bother you but I am new here and have not been able to find out HOW TO POST AN AD. Can you help me?

I want to sail from Hawaii to South America, either as a paying passenger or, preferably, as crew.

Thanks. I am sure I'll feel stupid when I find out but I have looked and can't find it.

Yamsailor,

The so-called "hockey-stick graph" has been analyzed, discussed and debated extensively in this thread. I doubt you will persuade many skeptics by citing a source which they feel is dubious and easily discredited.

The hockey stick totally ignores the mini ice age that europe suffered in the middle ages. But why consider anything that refutes your claim. Selective use of data to make your claim is a good thing right?
CO2 increases FOLLOW warming, but that doesn't mean anything.
global temps have not risen in the last 10 years but that doesn't mean anything
antartic is getting more snow & ice cover but that doesn't mean anything
polar bear population is growing, not shrinking but that doesn't mean anything
significant numbers of climatologists have withdrawn their name from the IPCC report because of manipulated data, but that doesn't mean anything
algore bought a 100' long MOTORyacht, but that doesn't mean anything
