If every human was removed from the planet tomorrow after turning off all the switches, the earth would continue to warm until it started to cool again.

The rate at which it continued to warm would not be measurably different with humans or without humans.

Well Stu, we've at least pretty well established that you know rather little about water well drilling in Nevada.

The only real debate remaining is the political one. The scientific debate among sane climatologists is essentially over.

Well, since you put it that way, now I understand. Silly me.

THIS THREAD HAS OFFICIALLY GONE "SOLAR". ANYONE POSTING IN IT REALLY DOESN'T HAVE ENOUGH PECKER LEFT TO BE CHOPPING OFF ANY MORE. SAVE WHAT YOU'VE GOT LEFT AND POST NO MORE.

"They'd like to make the whole discussion one about science, when in their hearts and minds they really know it's about politics. Claim science, practise politics."

Sailaway- I have just finally realized that you were right all along.

ok, I admit I was trying to stir the pot. But, seriously, the more I read this thread (which I swear I am going to stop doing) the more it seems that opinions boil down to pre-existing political bias. Although I know there are conservatives out there who believe in GW (John McCain, supposedly George Bush, even Newt Gingrich), how many on this forum who consider themselves politically conservative would agree with the following:

Global warming is real, AND it is caused primarily by man, AND we should do something about it.

I just think the pre-existing biases are so strong that any debate is fruitless. At least some seem to agree that no matter what your opinion on the topic, that our energy policy needs to change to decrease our dependence on foriegn oil.

GW real . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . probably and I tilt toward yes.
Caused Primarily by man . . . . . . . . A BIG LOAD OF CRAP!
Do something about it . . . . . . . . . Who? Us? Don't you mean "Your people"?
