Stu - My fault, I assumed you were aware I was referring to Al Gore and the IPCC as the recipients of this years peace prize, as that is the only thing that makes my comment germaine.

Of course, a cogent response to the last question of my post would have been far more helpful, than the insinuation I didn't know there were other Nobels beside for peace.

No, I misunderstood you. For all I knew, you didn't know there existed NP's for science. I apologize for guessing your ignorance.

So you're asking why Al Gore didn't win a Nobel Prize for science. Easy. He's not a scientist, and hasn't done any science. NPP is a political prize. I guess he won for raising awareness or something (I didn't see his movie).

You seem to have a penchant for assuming a lack of intelligence in others Stu. And, you don't have to be an accredited scientist to win a science prize. The point of the comment was that a supposedly scientific effort recieved a peace rather than science prize. I wasn't asking why Gore didn't win a science prize, I was illustrating the politics inherent in it.

First, you have to do better than a link to some dude's website.

Second, over geologic times, the configuration of the continents is the primary indicator of temperature. Yes, we know that. We're not talking about geologic time scales. Do a bit of research on glacial/interglacial cycles, what drives them, then get back to me. This info is well known, and easily available. You can probably find a good (first order) synopsis on wikipedia for that matter.

Stu. Don't keep directing me to some "dude's" website. I want to know from you. What was the level of atmospheric CO2 during the carboniferous period?
Maybe it was 17 time what it is today? What do you know of it? Was it?

Rockter.

I was thinking earlier about all the light bulbs in our house that we switched for curly cues. All but the ones in the Master bathroom. That got me to thinking about all of the money being made by companies trying to turn me green. I guess I’ve forgotten about the business angle to GW.

Al Gore's effort wasn't scientific. As far as I know, he didn't publish any new science. Again, I didn't see his movie, so I don't know. I just know that I haven't read any scientific articles with his name on them.

? I'm not directing you to some "dude's" website. I don't know what the CO2 levels were 300 million years ago. It's irrelevant. Climate over geologic times is dominated by continent configuration. This is irrelevant on the time scales (thousands of years) we're considering. You need to study glacial/interglacial cycles.

This is now at least the THIRD time I've written this.
