majorm is on a distinguished road
Ragnar-

I see this as a separate issue from my political beliefs and you make and excellent philosophical argument. However, after reading numerous posts on this thread, it does seem to me that one's opinion on this topic follows their political leanings. That is my point.

To that end, I am still waiting to hear from anyone on this forum who considers themselves a political conservative and yet believes that GW is real, that man is contributing, and that we should do something about it. If there is a sudden rush of people who say they are conservative and yet share this opinion, then I will change my mind. I would love for others to show me I am wrong on this, as this doesn't seem like this issue should break down by party line, but I think it largely does.

As to whether or not GW is a fact, or at least supported by science, I would rather not rehash all of that. I have expressed my opinion numerous times, as have others. I don't see anyone changing their minds. I have done a lot of reading on the subject, both on sites that believe the science, as well as "skeptic" sites to reach my conclusion. I am not a scientist nor a climatologist, so what I believe is simply my opinion.

I never was much for philosophy, although I understand and appreciate your argument. I also think it should be as you say, but I just don't see much evidence of that, at least on this forum.

So what's the deal with the end of the world coming with rising sea levels. I'm pretty sure I read something recently in the local news about a rise of several feet by 2050, a substantial increase, and then I see on wikipedia someone's talking about an average rise of 3mm/yr. That's a big difference. What's up with that?

Ummm...
George Bush was elected as a compassionate conservative.
George Bush says he believes in ManGW
George Bush has actually proposed doing some stuff about.

Does that disprove the case? I know lots of conservatives who do not particularly delve into science and believe the media hype on ManGW.
When they hear about Mars, and ice-cores showing co2 following warming, and antartica being at record high ice levels and 23 out of 25 polar bear colonies growing, and Kilimanjaro ice receding since 1800, and arctic ice melt being due to ocean currents etc. etc. they wonder why the media is not talking about this.
I recognize that Al Gore is NOT scientific opinion...but he and his film pass for it in the media and to the general public. Because he has exaggerated and lied about the science...(and now joined a VC firm hoping to profit from green companies)...I think that ultimately he will do more harm than good to the ManGW cabal as people reject ALL SCIENCE theories and not just his lies.
