Scientific Data!

As a newbie on the forum, I hesitate to speak out, since you guys are such accomplished b%^$ s*&@@ers, and waaaaay out of my league, but just I can't hold back any more...

You guys are barking up the wrong tree (so to speak). I have discovered a learned scientific paper that establishes BEYOND A DOUBT, the validity of the premise that man is f#@*&%g up the World's climate. These guys are serious scientists and know whereof they speak.

Here's an excerpt. Follow the link at the bottom of the post for the entire article.

"The Groundhog Oscillation: Evidence of Global Change

by Andrew J. Gerrard,* Christina M. Gerrard,* Mark A. London,* Keith A. Soldavin,* Timothy J. Kane,* and Alan Freed**

*The Pennsylvania State University, University Park, Pennsylvania, **Ambridge, Pennsylvania

Figure 2. Phil

There is a fierce debate about whether the earth's climate is changing. In this paper we describe an overlooked -- but reliable -- remote sensing instrument that can provide crucially pertient information. We also describe an extensive long-term data set that was obtained by using the instrument.

A Shadowy Observer

Every year on Groundhog Day (February 2), Phil the groundhog emerges from his burrow in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, after a long winter's sleep. Legend has it that if Phil sees his shadow (that is, if Groundhog Day is sunny), he dives back into his burrow, because he knows that there will be six more weeks of winter. If Phil doesn't see his shadow (that is, if the Groundhog Day is cloudy), he (and his adoring public) expect spring to arrive early.

By analyzing the more-than-century-long record of Phil's observations of his shadow, we discovered that there has been a dramatic change in the data pattern over the past two decades. We speculate that this new pattern, which we call the "Groundhog Oscillation," is evidence that the global climate is indeed changing.
This new pattern also suggests that mankind should pay closer attention to what our furry friends are telling us."

Hud...if you hang around here a bit, you will see that your theory in the immortal words of Marissa Tomei "holds no water." You see...sailnet comes complete with its own little furry friend, TDWombat. Though he resides on the upside down part of the world...his missives reach us through time and space and those familiar with his mad ravings will tell you that furry creatures oscillate for one purpose only...and it has nothing to do with global warming, though friction may produce some localized effects!

I found non-scientific basis to support the GroundHog Theory:

Groundhog Predictions

"I think the Groundhog this morning yawned, stretched, made some cereal and a pot of tea. When he finished reading the newspaper and watching his morning cartoons, he took a gander outside and said,
"Holy crap! Who cares about my shadow? What the heck are they doing about this Global Warming?"
The Groundhog then goes inside and signs up for the Green Party and instead of hibernating becomes an environmental activist.

Or at least he does in my reality."

There is one fact in it when she states "...he does in my reality", which is the issue with discussing the issues - everyone's reality is a tad bit different...

And then to provide rebuttal:
The Groundhog Fraud

Seems Dr. Phil is only accurate on prediction of only 39% of the 90% of the times the lazy woodchuck chucketh 6 more weeks..
