Well said, Sailormon.
For any who might have a problem understanding Sailormon's post, it's a simple matter of respect.

I just have to be amazed that anyone would pick the PRESIDENT OF THE US based on a lapel pin.
For me, I agree with Sailormon that he should have known how many people out there this is important to and just gone with the flow. But I also dont think it is very important in the final analysis.
My father was stationed overseas in Latin America during part of my time growing up - I was in middle school during the height of "Yankee go home". Nobody channels parental attitudes in a more direct way than 13 year old boys and I am the veteran of MANY fistfights based on my being American and not tolerating disrespect to me or ours. I yield to no one in patriotism but I also dont have a lapel pin. I KNOW I am American. I dont need a lapel pin to prove it.
But, of course, since I am a Dem I am immoral and unpatriotic

If you bothered to read the article, and had any comprehension of what it said, it ISN"T ABOUT THE PIN. You don't need a lapel pin to be a patriot, but when you deliberate take it off, add in Cuban flags with Castro's executioner on them, and Michelle Obama's statement about pride in the country, it begins to add up.
If his judgement is no better than this while campaigning, what will it be like if he's elected?

IIRC under the original terms of the constitution the person getting the majority of votes from the electoral college became president (if in majority) and the person getting the second largest count became vice president.
How about McCain - Clinton Could ya'll imagine in todays world a polar opposite president and vice president - Say Hucklebee - Obama
More likely John will reach out and pull in Joe Liberman and we'll have a four year stint of the John and Joe show on your radio dial.
Nah, the party leaders won't let him do that, or will they?

Joe L? I doubt it. McCain has enough trouble with his non-conservative tendencies - He needs a "real" conservative and Lieberman has too many Dem positions - Unless, of course, he makes a decision to kiss off the right wing of the Repubs and try for a new coalition of the left wing of the repubs and the right wing of the dems.

If they think that's the way to win they will. Don't forget, it's all about winning. What's best for the country is only secondary .... on either side.

Proud to be a Dem! Immoral, Unpatriotic and Uncomprehending.
Keep it coming. If it feels good, it must be worth it - and I dont mind at all (probably because I am so uncomprehending)

Didn't think you'd have a serious response. Just more of the same misapplication of what is said, into what you want it to say.

Precisely. On both sides.
If he does pick Joe, I will vote for the first time ever. You heard it here first.
Not only will it show he'll do what it takes to win - it will be an unprecedented reach across the aisle for national reconcilliation and to get the job done. Moderates on both sides far outnumber the screaming minority of extremist that have driven this country to the polarized do nothing mess it is today.
